The movie is coming out on 22 August, 2025.
It was previously announced that the popular Square Enix arcade game Starwing Paradox is getting an anime movie prequel, which is set to debut in Japanese theaters on 22 August. Recently, the protagonist’s voice actors for the project were also revealed on the anime's official website, along with a short video featuring the voice role.
As One cast and staff details
Ruki Shiroiwa, a member of the popular Japanese boy band JO1 is joining the movie cast as Yoh, the protagonist of the series. A short trailer video was also revealed to show the audience how Ruki’s voice sounds as Yoh.
The film is being produced and animated by Honoo and Studio GOONEYS. Kobun Shizuno is directing the movie while Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who also worked on the game, is returning to design the characters for the project. You can learn more about the production staff in our previous coverage here.
The As One film takes place 20 years before the Square Enix game. The movie follows a boy named Yoh, who wants to become a musician, but is struggling with his family’s expectations. One day in Shibuya, Yoh hears a voice in his head asking for help, and his life changes completely.
