A brand new trailer introduced the new lead hero of the series.
Ronin Warriors aka Armor Legends Samurai Troopers (Yoroiden Samurai Troopers) is coming back to the screen after almost four decades! That’s right, the beloved classic anime that aired back in 1988 is returning with a brand new sequel series in January 2026. The new protagonist of the series and his voice actor was also introduced in the trailer. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the show have confirmed the news.
Armor Legends Samurai Troopers sequel cast, staff, and other details
The sequel series is titled Yoroi Shinden Samurai Troopers, which translates to New Armor Legend Samurai Troopers. The only cast member of the anime is the protagonist Gai, voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi (Akatsuki Red in Mr. Villain’s Day Off, Henri Noble II in The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal).
The series is being produced by Sunrise, who also animated the original anime. Yoichi Fujita is directing the show while Shogo Muto handles series composition. Yuhei Murota is in charge of character design. Takuya Suzuki will be designing the Yoroi Gear (armors) of the new series with the original designer Hideo Okamoto’s help. Shuji Katayama is composing the music for the anime.
The original Armor Legends Samurai Troopers, released in the USA as Ronin Warriors, came out back in 1988. The anime was created by Hajime Yatate and animated by Sunrise. A manga adaptation of the series was published by Kodansha in 1988. Fans are of course excited to see this classic series return after almost four decades.
