Reno Ichikawa helps Kafka achieve his final attack against the Daikaiju.
It was announced a few days ago that Naoya Matsumoto’s manga Kaiju No. 8 will end with its 129th chapter. As chapter 127 is already out, fans will only receive two more updates from the popular series. But it seems that the final battle has already drawn to a close with Kafka’s all-out punch in the latest chapter.

Kikoru leaves the final part of the fight to Kafka, urging him on to finish it. Although it’s a herculean task, Kafka is ready to deliver the final punch to the core of the mega monster which his friends fought hard to expose. He tells the ancestors to lend him their strength so he can deliver a punch fueled by their hatred. However, the monster starts to regenerate quickly and it seems Kafka won’t be able to punch it in time. However, someone else attacks the monster to keep it from regenerating. We see that Reno is throwing ice shards using his numbered suit at the monster. He looks up at his friend and mentor, and urges him to put an end to this.
Kafka finally lands the punch, and the next panel shows an older Kafka standing beside his younger self. He tells the younger version that this isn’t what he had in mind when he made his promise to Mina to fight Kaijus together. However, if he could land the final punch, it would be pretty cool. The younger Kafka smiles and agrees. We then see several versions of Kafka over the years, and it seems they’re all lending their strength to the present day hero. Kafka’s punch blows through the monster’s core, tearing the being into pieces. As the Daikaiju’s several heads scream in unison, everyone looks at the scene with bated breath to see if Kafka succeeded.

The last few chapters of the battle shonen manga have all been leading up to this moment. Kafka, who is now completely transformed into his kaiju form, is humanity’s last hope against the Meireki-era Daikaiju. Thanks to the help of all the past warriors’ spirits, Kafka is now strong enough to take it on and destroy its core. It seems that the deed is finally done and everyone’s work has paid off. With only two chapters left, it’s likely the author will spend them to tie up the loose ends of the story after the final boss monster is defeated.
