"9-nine- Ruler's Crown" anime announces 5 July premiere date and more details in new trailer

The opening theme song of the series was also revealed.

The 9-nine- Ruler's Crown anime series, based on the popular mystery visual novel game 9-nine-, just announced its release date. According to the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the project, the series is set to premiere on 5 July, 2025. The new trailer also previews the opening theme song of the series.

The opening theme song of the anime is ‘ResoNAnce’ by Araki. Previously, it was announced that the ending theme song is ‘Pale Blaze’ performed by Chihiro Yonekura. The main cast of the series is the same as the visual novel. This includes:

  • Sora Niimi voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki
  • Haruka Kosaka voiced by Yuri Yamaoka

Kōichi Ōhata is directing the project at studio PRA with Saori Sakiguchi designing the characters. Additional production staff includes:

The original visual novel series 9-Nine-, Created by Pallete, came out back in 2017. There are four total chapters each featuring a new heroine and mysteries. They are all currently available on SteamSekai Project releases the visual novel series in English and describes the story as:

Shiromitsugawa, a run-of-the-mill college town that has launched several failed attempts to drum up tourism and revitalize itself, including sponsoring a high-budget-but-poorly-written anime based on local folklore. A storm is about to descend on this sleepy town.

We follow Kakeru Niimi, a man who can be a bit curt at times but who has a strong sense of responsibility and a kind heart. Kakeru’s ordinary life is thrown into chaos after the local shrine’s sacred relic shatters. In the wake of this event, several young men and women awaken to superhuman abilities.

What was once a run-of-the-mill life in a run-of-the-mill town soon turns into a quest to track down a superpowered serial killer before they can strike again.
