Miss Kobayashi and her lovely dragon maid are coming to the big screens soon! That’s right, Crunchyroll just announced that it has acquired the rights to release the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid - A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved anime movie in theaters internationally. This means fans worldwide will get a chance to watch this film in all its glory.

The upcoming Miss Kobayashi movie will be released in Japan on 27 June, 2025. Unfortunately, no details about the international premiere dates have been announced by Crunchyroll as of yet. The streaming platform only revealed that in North America, the film will be released in Japanese with English subtitles. More details about the regions where the movie will be showing in theaters will be revealed at a later date. Crunchyroll will also stream the film on their platform later.
Previously, it was revealed that Japanese music legend Sachiko Kobayashi, who shares her surname with the titular Miss Kobayashi, has joined the movie’s cast. Kyoto Animation is producing the movie with Tatsuya Ishihara directing it. Yuka Yamada is writing the scripts while Miku Kadowaki is the character designer and chief animation director. The original Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga, by Coolkyousinnjya, is published by Futabasha in their Manga Action magazine. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English while Crunchyroll streams the two seasons of the anime series on their platform. Crunchyroll describes the upcoming movie’s story as:
Miss Kobayashi, Tohru, Kanna, and Iruru's peaceful lives are shattered when Kanna’s father, Kamun Kamui, leader of the Chaos Forces, arrives and forces her to return to the Dragon World to fix a past mistake. With a war brewing between Chaos and Harmony, Kanna must find a way to unite the two worlds but is torn between her loyalty to her friends and her father's demands.
