The popular voice actress will be stepping away from work for a while.
Even if you’re not familiar with the name of Atsumi Tanezaki, every anime fan knows some of the characters she plays. She’s the iconic voice of the beloved Anya Forger from Spy x Family. Unfortunately, her cooperative Haikyō has announced that the artist will be stepping away from work for a while following her doctors’ advice.
Atsumi Tanezaki has been suffering from health issues
On Tuesday, 1 July, 2025, the Haikyō cooperative announced that Tanezaki has been facing some ailment and, as a result, will cease activities for a while. Previously, her doctors had allowed her to work. But now, it’s time to put her recovery first. Haikyō promised to work towards her speedy recovery and apologised to the fans for the trouble caused.
Tanezaki herself posted about it on her X (formerly Twitter) account. She explained that this hiatus was necessary for her to continue to voice the characters she has grown to love so much. She also told her fans to take care of themselves. As of now, we have no updates on how long she’s going on a break for, and can only wish for her speedy recovery.
Atsumi Tanezaki is a popular voice actress who started working in 2012. She has voiced Anya Forger in Spy x Family as well as Frieren in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Other notable characters include Sajuna Inui in My Dress-Up Darling, Lady Nagant in My Hero Academia Season 6, and Gyokuyō in The Apothecary Diaries. Atsumi Tanezaki is married to her fellow voice actor Yu Miyazaki who has voiced Itsuomi Nagi in A Sign of Affection. Her fans are hoping she will recover soon and reprise working as Spy x Family Season 3 and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 are both coming out in a few months.
