The movie will be Macross co-creator Shoji Kawamori’s first original film venture.
The official website for Shoji Kawamori’s upcoming original anime film revealed new information for the work, particularly its title, a teaser video, teaser visual, and a premiere set for January 2026.
The movie, titled Meikyu no Shiori (Labyrinth, or Shiori of the Labyrinth), will be Kawamori’s first feature-length anime film that is not based on an existing franchise.

Kawamori will be directing the work at SANZIGEN, with the original story concept credited to Slow Curve, Vector Vision, GAGA, and Fuji Television. Risa Ebata joins the staff as character designer, while Taichi Hashimoto wrote the script.
Kawamori is best known for his work as the key creative planner for the mecha anime “The Super Dimension Fortress Macross”, where he also designed most of the mecha, and oversaw majority of the series’s installments. He also created titles like “The Vision of Escaflowne”, “Basquash!”, and “Nobunaga the Fool.”

One day , Maezawa Shiori, an ordinary high school girl, suddenly finds her smartphone broken, and when she wakes up, she finds herself in a deserted, alternate world of Yokohama.
When Shiori checks her smartphone, she finds a photo of herself that she doesn't recognize posted on her social media account.
