Blue Lock comes up with a way to stop Onazi from scoring.
The latest chapter of Blue Lock manga was shorter than usual, due to the illustrator Yusuke Nomura being sick. However, it showed us how well the Blue Lock Japan U-20 team prepared for the opponents. Not only were they able to stop Nigeria’s ace Onazi from scoring, but also prepared an attack of their own. This match will prove the success of the Blue Lock programme on an international stage.

Blue Lock Chapter 314 recap

The issue begins with Oliver Aiku realising that the Nigerian players were playing exactly like the simulations. They leverage their physical abilities to make amazing passes and finish it off by passing to their ace Onazi who scores the goal. On the other hand, Japan has an Egoist system that can score from anywhere. But both the teams’ playing styles are hyper offensive. Just then, we see Nigerian player Oboabona clearing the ball with a head after Onazi stopped Rin’s goal in the previous issue.
His teammate Kuso receives the ball and prepares a counter, but Isagi is suddenly in front of him. Before Kuso can figure out where to pass, Reo also reaches him. Right then, Onazi calls from his back and Kuso passes the ball to their ace. But Blue Lock’s Karasu Tabito intercepts the predictable ball. The Nigerian players realise that in just two minutes, Blue Lock has adapted to their playstyle. They try to stop them, but Karasu easily passes the ball to Blue Lock’s fastest runner Chigiri.

Chigiri runs up towards the goal line from the other side of the field. One of the Nigerian players tries to intercept him, but Chigiri is faster and kicks a pass across the field. Kuso thinks that the ball is going to Rin and covers him, but it seems that the pass was meant for someone else. Isagi’s eyes brighten up as he says the ball is his, but just then, someone else says “Nope”.
Blue Lock Chapter 314 review

Despite being short, the latest issue of Blue Lock sets up the next bit of the play very well, topped with some intrigue. I still don’t understand if it was Isagi who said ‘no’ or someone else, because all we see is one shoe of the person saying it. Either way, it would be fun to see who ultimately scores the first goal against Nigeria or if they can stop it twice in a row. Winning this match is quintessential for Japan to prove that Blue Lock was a success.
