Rite Nekoha’s four-panel manga series 2200-Nen Neko no Kuni Nippon (Japan, the Land of Cats in the Year 2200) is being adapted into a light anime series. According to Shueisha’s official website for the manga, the anime is set to air on 7 October, 2025. The cast members voicing various characters have also been introduced.

As a light anime, the production expenses of the series will be low, with focus being mostly on dialogues and still images from the manga being used as the base for the minimal animation. The theme song ‘Kohakushoku no Loneliness’ is performed by Maika Matsuya.
The story of 2200-Nen Neko no Kuni Nippon takes place in Japan in the year 2200 where the cat population has exploded while humans lessened in numbers. Cats have also learned to talk, work, and behave like humans. The story of the manga focuses on high school girl and her very argumentative cat.
