The beloved fantasy adventure anime series Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) is coming back soon. In a new update, the official website and social media accounts of the anime revealed that Sousou no Frieren Season 2 is coming out on Friday, 16 January, 2026. Previously, it was announced that the anime will come out in January next year, but the new update confirms the exact date, much to the delight of fans.
Sousou no Frieren Season 2 details
The new key visual features the series protagonist Frieren, and her two companions Fern and Stark. They seem to all be in a cave filled with crystals, which can be a glimpse of what’s to come in the next season. The main cast of the anime consists of:

The first season of the anime consisted of 28 episodes and aired from September 2023 to March 2024. Keiichiro Saito directed the season at MADHOUSE with Tomohiro Suzuki helming series composition. Reiko Nagasawa designed the characters while Evan Call composed the music. The second season will be directed by Tomoya Kitagawa. The anime is based on the manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa AbeCrunchyroll streams the first season of the anime and describes the story as:
