The fantasy comedy is officially getting adapted into a television anime!
It has been revealed that the fantasy comedy manga by Nara Ippei, The Daily Life of a Single 29-Year-Old Adventurer (29-sai Dokushin Chuuken Boukensha no Nichijou) is set to receive a TV anime adaptation. The announcement, which was made over on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the series was paired with a teaser visual and teaser promotional video, as well as partial staff and cast. No exact broadcast date has been revealed.
29-sai cast and staff
Toshiki Fukushima is helming the series at studio HORNETS as both director and series writer. In the official 29-sai website, Fukushima released a comment regarding the anime, stating:
“There's laughter and tears in this laid-back style.I hope you enjoy the characters, each full of personality.I'm enjoying working on this project with the staff and cast, enjoying Nara-sensei's worldview. Thank you for your support.”
Meanwhile, Yoshihiro Nagamori is in charge of main character design, stating that:
“It was both difficult and fun to bring together the evolving characters from the original work. I hope that you will enjoy this energetic, cute, cheerful, sometimes severe and cool, laid-back and fun world.”
Shin Furukawa is taking on the main character Hajime Shinonome, while the role of Lilui will be played by Sayumi Suzushiro.
29-sai plot and other details
The anime is based on a manga of the same title, and is written and illustrated by Ippei Nara. It began serialisation in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2016, and as December 2024 has been compiled into 18 tankobon volumes. The series is yet to receive an English release.
The official website for the series describes the story as:
“Hajime Shinonome spent his childhood in a slum and desperately sought strength in order to survive . He now lives a carefree life as an adventurer attached to the village of Komai. One day, he goes into a dungeon on a quest and finds a girl who is about to be eaten by a slime, the weakest monster! The girl's name is Lilui. She has entered the dungeon alone in order to survive. Abandoned by her parents and with nowhere to go, Hajime can't bring himself to leave her alone and takes Lilui back to the village to live with him!”
