Webtoon set to release a full-colour version of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga

The series will release its first chapter on 7 May.

We have some great news for the Fullmetal Alchemist manga and anime fans! The original manga series by Hiromu Arakawa ran from 2001 to 2010, and received two immensely popular anime adaptations, titled Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. But for those who haven’t read the manga yet, Webtoon is bringing it to their platform with a vertical scroll format!

Webtoon to launch Fullmetal Alchemist on 7 May

Webtoon is one of the most popular digital comics platforms meant for the phone screen. Their vertical scroll format is perfect for those who read manhwa and other comics on their smartphone. The company announced that a full-coloured version of Fullmetal Alchemist will be available to read on the platform on 7 May, 2025. It will also have vertical scrolling to ensure fans don’t miss anything.

Whether you are an OG fan of the manga or someone who has only watched the anime, this is a great opportunity for every FMA fan to read the series. The new format will give it an authentically smartphone-oriented feeling, which can sometimes be missing on other manga platforms. Moreover, the fully coloured version will make it a much-more entertaining experience. You can head to the Webtoon website or app on the day of the release to start reading it.

The story of Fullmetal Alchemist follows two young brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric. After losing their mother, the two genius brothers perform the forbidden alchemic practice of human transmutation. This causes Edward to lose a leg, while Alphonse’s whole body is taken, forcing Edward to sacrifice his arm to bind his soul within a suit of armour. Now it’s time for the Elric brothers to undertake a journey to reclaim their bodies.
