Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga is known for its bizarre and grotesque imagery, and the mangaka definitely went back to his roots with the latest chapter. After Asa’s actions in the previous chapter, Denji looks mad. But when the Fake Chainsaw Man picks a fight with him, he has no choice but to engage. But the Fakesaw Man has a disgusting new power up his sleeve that angers Denji.

The issue begins with Denji and Yoru standing face to face. The War Devil asks him if he’s mad after she cut the arms of the woman he was trying to help in the previous chapter. When Denji–now in his Chainsaw Man form–doesn’t reply, she turns to the Fake Chainsaw Man and blasts an explosion his way. Among the flying rubble we see the real and Fake Chainsaw Man engage in battle. Denji easily cuts the fake devil’s arms apart. He asks the protagonist if he and Yoru planned this just to attack him. To this, Denji replies that no, she’s just crazy. Bored with the development, Yoru takes matters into her own hands and points an explosion directly onto the Fake Chainsaw Man, intending to kill him.
But suddenly, two random people who have tiny chainsaws on their forehead throw themselves before the Fake Chainsaw Man. They are blown to bits by Yoru’s power. Suddenly, many other people like them, all part of the Chainsaw Man cult, start crowding around the fake devil. Right after, the Fake Chainsaw Man starts to fuse their bodies into his own, making a grotesque scene. He says that although Denji doesn’t feel pain cutting through strangers, can he actually slice people who idolise him? The small chainsaws on everyone’s forehead start to melt off, and they’re immediately freaked out to see their bodies fused in such a manner. But when they see Denji in his Chainsaw Man, they call out to him, relieved that he will be able to save them. The Fake Chainsaw Devil starts attacking Chainsaw Man while the people are still conscious, causing them intense pain. Denji calls him a scumbag as a helpless man begs him to save them.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 202 review
The fusing scene in the issue was definitely disturbing, but also necessary. It goes to show how most people who claim to stand for justice and righteousness actually only care about their own agenda. The Fake Chainsaw Man, who’s now under the Death Devil’s command, seems to be a perfect example of this. His devotion to Chainsaw Man is completely misplaced, and he was immediately disappointed after seeing Denji having fun with a girl like a normal teenager. Now he is angry that Denji doesn’t measure up to the made-up pedestal he made for Chainsaw Man. The fact that he’s willing to sacrifice so many others who idolise Chainsaw Man only goes to prove how demented his mind actually is. I’m excited to see more of his power and learn what Tatsuki Fujimoto is cooking next!
