Versus, Fall in Love, You False Angels, and Historie are the winners in different categories.
A month ago, Kodansha announced the 16 nominees for the 49th Kodansha Manga Awards. These titles were divided into three categories: Best Shonen Manga, Best Shojo Manga, and Best General Manga. On 12 May, 2025, Kodansha announced the winner in each category.
49th Kodansha Manga Award winners list
Versus by ONE, Azuma Kyotaro, and BOSE won the award for the Best Shonen Manga this year. The other nominees were:
- Wind Breaker by Satoru Nii
- The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity by Mikami Saka
- Kagurabachi by Takeru Hokazono
- Orion on the Board by Naoshi Arakawa
- Fermat no Ryōri by Yugo Kobayashi
The Best Shojo Manga Award was won by Fall in Love, You False Angels by Coco Uzuki. The other nominees in this category were:
- How I Met My Soulmate by Anashin
- The Ayakashi Hunter’s Tainted Bride by Midori Yūma, Mamenosuke Fujimaru
- Re-Living My Life with a Boyfriend Who Doesn't Remember Me by Eiko Mutsuhana, Yugiri Aika, Gin Shirakawa
- Gazing at the Star Next Door by Ammitsu
Finally, The Best General Manga prize was taken by Historie by Hitoshi Iwaaki. The other manga nominated for this prize were:
- Under Ninja by Kengo Hanazawa
- Onna no Sono no Hoshi by Yama Wayama
- Spacewalking with You by Inuhiko Doronoda
- Nezumi no Hatsukoi by Riku Ōseto
The winners were announced via a notice by Kodansha. The selection committee for this award consisted of Natsumi Ando (Something Wrong with Us), Tsunami Umino (The Full-Time Wife Escapist), Etsushi Ogawa (Chuuka Ichiban!), Kouji Kumeta (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei), Kaoru Hayamine (Machi no Tom & Sawyer), Norifusa Mita (Investor Z), and Makoto Yukimura (Vinland Saga).
