Kaiju No. 8 is definitely one of the most anticipated returning titles of Summer 2025. The anime series, based on Naoya Matsumoto’s manga, made waves when the first season came out in 2024. After much wait, it was finally revealed by the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the anime that the first episode of Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 will premiere on 19 July, 2025. A new key visual has also been released to accompany the news. The second season will also air on X (formerly Twitter) in real time.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 cast and staff details
The main cast from the first season is returning to their roles in season 2. This includes:

- Wataru Katoh as Reno Ichikawa
- Fairouz Ai as Kikoru Shinomiya
- Asami Sato as Mina Ashiro
- Kengo Kawanishi as Soshiro Hoshina
- Tesshō Genda as Isao Shinomiya
- Kōki Uchiyama as Gen Narumi
- Takayuki Sugō as Keiji Itami
- Hiroyuki Yoshino as Kaiju No. 9
- Kenta Miyake as Kaiju No. 10
The first season was produced by Production I.G. and the kaiju artworks were overseen by Studio Khara. Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya directed the series with Ichiro Ōkouchi writing the scripts. Tetsuya Nishio was in charge of animation direction while Shinji Kimura handled art direction and Mahiro Maeda did the monster designs. The original manga series is written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. Crunchyroll streams the first season internationally and describes the story as:
In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. He makes a promise to enlist with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Reno's determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka's promise to join Mina and protect humanity.
