The second season of the Kaiju No. 8 anime is also coming out this July.
Kaiju No. 8 fans are going to have a great July this year. Not only is Season 2 of the anime dropping on 19 July, but the special original episode, “Hoshina’s Day Off”, will also be released in the same month. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the series revealed that the special episode will drop on 5 July, 2025 on TV Tokyo and other networks. It will also be simulcast on the anime’s X account.
Kaiju No. 8: Hoshina’s Day Off story and other details
The “Hoshina’s Day Off” special was originally released together with the “Kaiju No. 8: Recon Mission” movie. The upcoming episode will likely be longer and include more scenes. The OVA installment follows the Kaiju Defense Force’s Third Division Vice Captain Soshiro Hoshina on one of his off days. It will also feature Reno Ichikawa and Iharu Furuhashi, who follow the vice captain after sensing something is wrong. After the intense action of the series, fans can enjoy a more slice-of-life theme of this episode. The popular band OneRepublic performs the ending theme song for this special. Yuto Tsukuda penned the story for Hoshina’s Day Off while Yuichiro Kido wrote the scripts.
It was also announced that the second season of Kaiju No. 8 is coming out on 19 July, 2025. The original manga series is written by Naoya Matsumoto. While Akatsuki Games revealed that the Kaiju No. 8 the Game for PC and smartphone is coming out on 31 August. Akari Kitō has joined the game’s cast as Sagan Shinomiya, Kikoru’s adoptive sister. The game follows Sagan, who is the leader of CLOZER, an organisation dedicated to closing the dimensional gates where monsters come from.
