The spin-off will focus on Kyotaro’s sister, Kana.
The official account for the “Dangers in My Heart” (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) by Norio Sakurai has revealed a new spin-off series, this time focusing on Kyotaro’s older sister, Kana. The spinoff, titled “The Dangers in My Heart: A Romantic Comedy Will Not Start” (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai) will launch on 22 July through Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross manga website.
Haika Nanasaka will be in charge of the manga with full supervision by Norio Sakurai. As of now, there are no details as to whether the spinoff will receive an English simulrelease.
Kana made appearances in both the manga and the anime for BokuYaba, as Kyotaro’s easygoing and reasonable, albeit nosy older sister who’s in university. Considering how the spin-off will focus on her, it’s most likely that the story will follow her as she navigates life as someone who doesn’t have a romantic interest–a comedic point that spawned a lot of the funny hijinks involving her in the show.
The original manga has been serialised by Akita Shoten since 2018, with a total of 12 tankobon volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga for an English release, and describes the story as:
Ichikawa Kyotaro, a boy barely clinging to the bottom rung of his school's social ladder, secretly believes he's the tortured lead in some psychological thriller. He spends his days dreaming up ways to disrupt his classmates' peaceful lives and pining after Anna Yamada, the class idol. But Kyotaro's not nearly the troubled teen he pretends to be... and it turns out Anna's a bit odd herself!
The manga received an anime adaptation animated by Shin-Ei animation and licensed by Sentai Filmworks, with the first season airing in 2023, and the second airing in 2024 with a total of 25 episodes.
