Jiji and Zuma combine their power to deliver the final blow.
The Sharknado aka the Typhoon Human cryptid has been one of the biggest (literally) problems in the recent chapters of Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan manga. In the recent issue, we see Momo coming up with a plan to destroy the eye of the Typhoon. However, she needs everyone’s help to execute it. Ultimately, the Kito family works together with Momo, Jiji, and Zuma to calm down the storm that was pulling power from the sea. But does it actually work?

Dandadan Chapter 198 recap
The issue, titled ‘Smash the Typhoon’s Eye’ begins with an illustration of the torn off Death Worm looming over the literal massive eye of the storm. Momo tells Jiji to head to the eye and smash the center with his Evil Gun. When he says that it’s taking all of his strength to just hold onto the worm, she assures him that she will keep him safe with her power. Jiji listens to her while Zuma holds onto him from behind. Momo keeps them in place as Jiji fires his Evil Gun attack at the center of the eye. At first it seems to work, but the Typhoon quickly regenerates. Suddenly lightning starts to emulate from the eye and Momo asks the elder Kito woman to steer the worm away from it so they don’t die.
The group barely survives the pillar of lightning the storm throws their way. Momo remembers how Okarun told her that the typhoon itself is a living cryptid. She once again orders the Kito woman to make the Death Worm eat a ton of frozen sharks. Naki Kito wonders where Momo’s voice is coming from as she can’t see her tiny body. Momo says it doesn’t matter but Naki answers that if the worm eats sharks, it can’t fly. Momo answers that it’s okay because they’re going to dive into the eye of the typhoon. Both Jiji and Naki protest, saying they’ll die. However, Momo once again assures them that she has a plan and asks the Kito woman to make the worm eat sharks. Naki follows her order, although begrudgingly and with a lot of protest. After it’s full, they head down towards the eye of the typhoon as the cryptid loads up another lightning attack.
Momo tells Naki to fire the sharks. As soon as she does that, the lightning hits the frozen sharks, dissipating immediately. Jiji is surprised, and Momo says it’s because ice is a really bad conductor of electricity. Just as they’re about to hit the surface of the eye, Momo uses her power to steer the Worm to its side and head to the ocean floor. She says that it’s the typhoon they’re after and not just the eye. She then instructs Jjii to hit the sea floor with his Evil Gun. Since sea water is only warm up to about 100 feet deep, Jiji’s attack should hit the cold water below it and bring it to the surface. That would effectively cut off the source of the typhoon’s power, which is water vapour. Jiji tells her that she’s a genius and launches an attack. However, it doesn’t have enough power to bring out the cold water from underneath.
The eye of the Typhoon Human starts attacking them again, and Naki is barely able to dodge it. Zuma comes to the rescue next. Although he’s blind, he uses his hand to hold on to Jiji’s arm as he prepares his next attack. He then commands his umbrella Futa to unleash its power. As Jiji fires his Evil Gun attack again, Futa’s powerful blow gives it even more strength. This time, the incredibly strengthened attack launches directly underneath the typhoon and into the seawater, messing up the momentum the cryptid had created.
Dandadan Chapter 198 review
Momo Ayase and her 10000+ IQ is the lord and saviour of us all. Even when her presence is fading fast, she can come up with genius plans and trust her friends to follow through with it all. On the other hand, it’s great to see Jiji, Zuma, and even her enemies, the Kito family blindly, trusting her judgement and the fact that she’ll be able to get them away from this predicament. The art in the chapter was as usual phenomenal, and Tatsu has once again outdone himself with the details on the eye of the typhoon. Now I’m excited to see if the Typhoon Human has been defeated and what this cryptid actually looks like. It would also be a struggle for Momo and her group to return to the plane where the rest of the party is. But that’s a problem they’ll deal with when the time comes.
