The original action anime series Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse just introduced a new cast member. Created by Fujiko Sakuno, Hideya Takahashi, and Akutō Satō and animated by David Production, the series started streaming on 2 July, 2025. Ahead of the release of the show’s 10th episode on Wednesday, 3 September, the official social media accounts of the anime revealed that Tomoaki Maeno has joined the cast.
Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse new cast and other details
Tomoaki Maeno (Kinro in Dr. Stone, Veldora Tempest in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime), has joined the anime cast as Kunihito. He is a man from 1000 years ago who used to be a public order official in Heian-kyō. The character is very passionate, and from the new short trailer and preview images of episode 10, it seems he’ll be a big part of the narrative moving forward. The Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse anime’s main and additional cast members include:

- Tsukimiya voiced by Maaya Uchida
- Abe no Seimei voiced by Ryōhei Kimura
- Atsunaga voiced by Kaito Ishikawa

- Kazura voiced by Marina Inoue
- Shino voiced by Chihaya Yoshitake
The original anime series is created by Fujiko Sakuno, Hideya Takahashi, and Akutō Satō at David Production. Takahashi directs the anime while Satō is credited for the original plot concept. Hayashi Mori writes the scripts with Kazuaki Morita designing the characters. Worldbuilding and research has been done by Katsuie Shibata while Kitsuneiro designs the concept art. Masahiro Tokuda is composing the music.
A manga adaptation was launched in February by Fujiko Sakuno and Kyūjō Matsumoto in Kodansha’s Morning two magazine. Crunchyroll streams the anime worldwide and describes the story as:
Naruhira Takeru is a delinquent who often thinks about Tsukimiya, the girl who appears in his dreams. After an unexpected accident, Takeru finds himself in a parallel universe, and the world that Tsukimiya lives in. When Takeru and Tsukimiya are slain by a monster, he awakens again and realizes he has leapt through time. Now, Takeru must train with Abe Seimei to fight for Tsukimiya’s life!
