Rin and Isagi banter after Rin’s incredible goal.
In the previous chapter of Muneyuki Kaneshiro’s Blue Lock manga, we saw how Rin Itoshi scored a goal by overtaking Isagi. In the recent chapter, we see the two characters banter as Rin promises to take both Isagi and Sae Itoshi down when the latter joins the team. We then see the Nigerian players talk amongst themselves about how trying to score their own goals is fun. However, Isagi tells them that this plan won’t work as they don’t have enough Ego. His words fire something in the Nigerian ace Onazi.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Blue Lock Chapter 321 recap

Rin Itoshi’s brilliant goal makes the score 3-0 in Japan’s favour. As everyone cheers, Isagi asks if Rin was planning to use Isagi’s back as a jumping point to score the goal. Rin says he was, as Isagi was too busy trying to find a logical solution. He says that he noticed Onazi coming to block Isagi, and if that happened, he would’ve scored with a two-gun. He instinctively stole the ball from Isagi and scored the goal. Rin has given into his impulse to overtake Isagi. He also promises that when his brother Sae Itoshi joins the team, Rin will be the striker who wipes him from existence.
Isagi tells him to bring it on, because the more creative Rin gets, the more pieces he will add to Isagi’s puzzle. Bachira asks if they’re teaming up now, and Chigiri and Karasu say that they’ll score the next goal. On the sidelines, Anri celebrates the third goal and says that the boys are on fire. Ego comments that Rin has the instincts of someone who’s born to score, he is a natural-born striker who is fit to become a hero. However, there are more ways to become a hero. The real magic of Blue Lock is awakening each player’s drive to become their own star.

With only 15 minutes left, the Nigerian team feels depressed as they’re behind by three goals. However, Kuso comments that each player trying to score their own goal is fun, and if they can even score once, the team will change. The rest of the team enthusiastically agrees, but their ace Onazi remains silent. Suddenly, Isagi appears in front of them and says that it won’t make a difference. When all Nigerian players glare at him, he points out that they’re too hyped like someone who has just watched an amazing movie.
Sometimes, after watching a great movie, the viewer wants to start living like the characters in it, but it never lasts too long. Similarly, the Nigerian players found an instant Ego after watching Blue Lock play, but it’s not enough to lead them on a path of victory. The Nigerian players get angry and say he doesn’t know them. Isagi points out that they still think of themselves as a team. Instead of taking responsibility for their own actions, they want to throw their problems at the group and hide behind everyone else. He tells them to stop thinking about the team and think about what the individual players feel while going up against Blue Lock.
It’s Onazi who answers and says that it’s incredibly frustrating. He can’t let it end like this, but if they keep playing like they always do, there’s no way he can ever beat Isagi. Isagi asks what he truly wants, whether it’s to make memories with his teammates or become Nigeria’s hero? Onazi says that it’s neither. The only thing he wants is to become the best striker in the world. Isagi smiles and tells Onazi to change his pitiful life and challenge him. Onazi asks how Isagi’s Ego got so massive and insatiable. Isagi answers that it came from the curiosity to discover who he is. The final panel of the chapter shows Isagi when there were 44 days left of his awakening.
Blue Lock Chapter 321 review

Isagi and Rin’s disastrous banter was my favourite part of the chapter. On the other hand, I felt like Isagi’s conversation with the Nigerian team was important, despite being a bit over the top. It’s true that the Nigerian team only started to score goals for themselves after seeing Blue Lock’s success. However, Onazi is the only one who truly seems to understand what it means to be an egoist. Just like every Blue Lock player tries to score goals for themselves, they also take the responsibility of any mistakes on the individual instead of putting it on the team. I’m excited to see if Nigeria can even score one goal before time runs out, even though it doesn’t seem likely.
