Ever since the death of Mangaka Akira Toriyama, the Dragon Ball Super manga has been on a hiatus.
Dragon Ball fans just received some fantastic news about their favourite manga. During the Jump Festa 2025 in December, it was announced that although the Dragon Ball Super manga isn’t coming back as of yet, the co-creator of the series Toyotarou will create and release a one-shot manga. It will be published in Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine’s super-sized April edition, which will be released on February 20, 2025.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, the official Dragon Ball YouTube channel revealed a sketch from the upcoming manga in a Weekly Dragonball News video. You can see the sketch at the 5:19 mark in the video. We have learned that this one-shot will be focused on Trunks and his motivation to fight in the Saiyaman X team. After the death of Dragon Ball’s legendary creator Akira Toriyama in March 2024, the Dragon Ball Super manga entered an indefinite hiatus in the following month. Unfortunately, we don’t yet know when the manga might resume serialisation again.
As you may already know, Dragon Ball Super manga is an adaptation of its anime counterpart, which has the same name. However, the comic series deviates a lot from the animation as Toyotarou has put some unique twists and turns in the story. You can see the character which Toyotarou drew recently on the official Dragon Ball website. Keep an eye on our site as we will cover more details about Dragon Ball and other anime franchises whenever new information is available.
