The series will return in June.
Negi Haruba’s manga, Go! Go! Loser Ranger! is going on another hiatus, this time due to the creator’s ongoing health issues. The announcement came in the 23rd issue of Weekly Shōnen Magazine, with the break set to begin in the next issue on 14 May.
Fans won’t have to wait too long, though, the series is expected to return in the 28th issue on 11 June.
Second break this year due to health reasons
This isn’t the first time Haruba has had to pause work on the series. Back in February, the manga took a two-issue break while the author recovered from illness, eventually resuming publication on 5 March.
Go! Go! Loser Ranger! first launched in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in February 2021 and quickly stood out thanks to its subversive take on the superhero genre. Set years after a monster invasion was seemingly stopped by the Divine Dragon Rangers, the story reveals the "ongoing war" to be nothing more than a staged performance. The monsters are actually forced to put on weekly fights just to maintain the Rangers' image — until one of them decides he’s had enough and plots revenge from the inside.
Kodansha USA is publishing the series in English, and it’s also made the leap to anime. The TV adaptation premiered in April 2024 on TBS and its 27 affiliates in Japan, and is streaming globally on Disney+ (and Hulu in North America). The second season began airing on 13 April and is also available on Disney+.
For now, readers will have to hang tight as Haruba focuses on recovery, and hopefully comes back with even more to shake up the world of sentai heroes.
