The latest chapter of Naoya Matsumoto’s manga showed us what a well co-ordinated team can accomplish even against the strongest enemies. Although the chapter was pretty short, it set up the stage perfectly for Kafka to show off his true strength in the upcoming issue. If he is able to take down the Meireki Era Daikaiju, all of this buildup will end in a truly spectacular climax.

The chapter starts with Mina loading the Keraunos weapon at the Daikaiju as it reaches the correct location. As she fires it, everyone is hopeful that this massive attack will expose the original core of the monster. However, the massive monster merely turns at the weapon and releases an attack of its own. The two attack beams cancel each other out in the air, shocking everyone. Mina engages rapid fire lock even though her equipment can’t handle that much pressure. But just as she is asked to fall back, Kikoru Shinomiya appears in the sky, her giant axe raised above her head, ready to strike.
She forcefully increases her power output from 51% to 93%. She remembers that it’s the job of the defense force to be the nation’s spears and the people’s shield. However, she dedicates this final attack to her father, Isao Shinomiya, while remembering how he used to play with her as a child. With the happy memory in mind, Kikoru strikes down hard. Her attack immediately has the desired effect as the monster is thrown off balance. With his focus elsewhere, Mina’s beam attack finally penetrates through his head and body, exposing the monster’s original core. Kikoru Shinomiya asks for Kafka to take care of it. The protagonist asks her to leave it to him as he gathers power for his final attack.
Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 126 review
It was phenomenal to see the two strongest women of the manga working together so well when their fighting styles are so different. Unlike Mina, who’s the best at handling massive weapons, Kikoru is good at flying around the battlefield and taking her enemies down with her axe. With this attack, she finally proved to herself that she can survive without help from other people. Her strength also opened up the way for Mina to use her own weapon properly. Now it’s time for Kafka, aka No. 8, to show what he’s made of. With this being the final battle, it’s likely the fight will end soon. I’m extremely excited to see how Kafka finally strikes down the being which has been terrorizing the country for ages.
